As a car gets faster, it requires more cooling, larger brakes and stronger suspension, which usually means more weight. Not so for the DBS. By using the finest and strongest lightweight materials, we've been able to upgrade the DBS to handle its phenomenal performance without piling on the kilos.
Power without control is power that is squandered. That's why DBS makes the most of the vast resources the V12 offers. A chassis of enormous rigidity, a classic double wishbone front suspension, a geometrically optimal multilink rear axle and extra stability thanks to a track that is 10mm wider than the DB11 at the front and 20mm wider at the rear. That's power with control.
The Power of the Punch
715bhp is an impressive figure by any standards, but that's just the start of the DBS's talent. Even more phenomenal than the power of the hand-built 5.2 V12 twin-turbo engine is the torque. All 900Nm of it, available from just 1800 rpm. That's more than any Aston Martin road car in our history.
An engine that can reach 62mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 211mph needs a very special transmission. The ZF 8HP95 gearbox gives DBS the most sophisticated driveline yet. Nestling between the rear wheels for optimal weight distribution, it not only adapts to the way you drive but offers a choice of characters according to the mode you select. Even the gear shifts have their own style, silky smooth in the GT, sharp and urgent in the Sport and Sport Plus.
Sonorous Soundtrack
An elegant quartet of matte black exhausts shares the peerless song of the DBS V12 with the world, both inside and outside the car. Underscored by the engine's reassuring growl, it's music to your ears.
